Growing Yourself Through Mindfulness, Art + Connection

I’m Heather Blankenship, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Alabama. I specialize in working with children (5-19) and adults working toward understanding their behaviors and developing healthy coping skills needed to navigate their life.

Many of my clients are working to develop a healthier relationship with their phones, video games, and their use of social media. I also support clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress. My clients are often seeking to develop a healthier work-life and financial balance through focusing on behaviors and thought patterns they can control.

During sessions I offer the opportunity to engage in art-based practices, in addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as art-based practices. I provide clients with the option to utilize various art forms such as painting, using clay, creating collages, journaling, and incorporating music during their sessions. Art is an outlet for creative expression and has the opportunity to inspire both children and adults!

My goal as a therapist is to help each person I work with find healing and happiness through mindfulness, art, and connection. I believe we can all learn how to be kinder to ourselves and to feed the parts of us that need nurturing.
